| The above video includes a quick ride through the parking lot, a glimpse of a tram and a monorail, the gate-opening ceremony and train arrival, rope-drop on Main Street U.S.A., walking through Tomorrowland past the Toy Story Fun House to the Space Mountain speed ramp, inside Space Mountain's queue, a moment of the original soundtrack as the ride departs, and a bit of the Star Tours queue. | In 1996, Disneyland advertised that The Main Street Electrical Parade was going to "Glow Away" forever. Fortunately, the succeeding parade was a dud and Disney couldn't part with this classic. It sent the parade to NYC, then on to Walt Disney World for the Millennium, and then to its current home at Disney's California Adventure. (Of course, there was also a second full version of the parade that had been created for Walt Disney World that eventually got sent to Paris Disneyland and has seen other Disney parks around the world.) But, since Disney said it was "Glowing Away", I visited Disneyland, April 28, 1996 -- my first time with a video camera in-hand. Here's the video, edited down to YouTube's 10 minute limit. |
